Pedricktown, NJ (January 22, 2009) - Opening its doors in September, at the beginning of the 2008 academic year, the Peter B. Lewis Science Library at Princeton University includes over 35,000 square feet of PPG’s Solarban® 60 high performance low-E coated glass, fabricated by JE Berkowitz, LP (JEB).
This 85,000 square foot 5-story building highlights the architectural ingenuity of Frank Gheary Architects, incorporating some of his spectacular and signature non-rectangular designs. This library is the first to be completed in a series of renovation projects for the university scheduled over the next ten years.
The glass installation was provided by Permasteelisa in coordination with general contractor Barr and Barr. JE Berkowitz supplied its trademark WinduoTM insulating glass units utilizing PPG’s Solarban® 60 solar control low-E glass, chosen for its clear, neutral appearance. The units were comprised of ¼” Solarban® 60 (2) over ¼ clear and ¼” Solarban® 60 (2) clear and over 9/16 clear laminated with a dot silkscreen or sand blasted finish, producing a smart and modern appearance for a bright new year.
