Project Synopsis
Towering fifty-seven stories into the Philadelphia skyline, Comcast Center is the city’s most prominent architectural edifice and the tallest LEED gold building in the US. Robert A.M. Stern Architects’ innovative design required stringent quality control over the fabrication of the light grey siliconed insulating glass units (in regards to flatness and optical aesthetics) to be structurally glazed by Enclos Corporation. JE Berkowitz, LP exceeded industry standards by fabricating the ultra-clear, PPG Solarban® Starphire/Starphire high-performance insulating glass to minimize bow and warp, which can be especially challenging when heat treating high-performance coated glass. An electronic read-out of each lite ensured that the roller-wave distortion of the glass was no more than .003 peak-to-valley!
