Tempered Glass

Our three horizontal tong-free tempering furnaces have a 96" x 180" capacity and can produce heat-strengthened or fully tempered glass in thicknesses of 1/8" through 3/4".  High quality heat-treated glass is used in all fabrication areas at JE Berkowitz, LP, including the production of ENVIROSPAN lead-free ceramic frit spandrel glass, insulating glass and All Glass Entrances.    (Back to Top)    

Insulating Glass

Fabrication of insulating glass units is accomplished on three automated insulating lines.  At JE Berkowitz, LP, over 10,000 insulating glass units are produced each week.  A full time Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for testing and inspecting these products and their components.

Commercial units are produced on three Lisec high speed lines with robotic sealing for rectangular units with a minimum size of 14" x 20".  All units are double seal with the highest IGCC rating, Class A, for use in either conventional or structural applications.  Additionally, non-rectangular, step glazed, and oversized units up to 96" x 137" can be manufactured.  Optional argon gas filling is available.  Minimum size units of 14" x 20" up to a maximum size of 96" x 137" are manufactured with either a single or dual seal.         (Back to Top)

Spandrel Glass

Lead -free ceramic frit is applied to a variety of substrates, including 1/4" clear heat-strengthened glass, intended for use in non-vision areas.  This environmentally safe product is applied by an automatic roller coater line in ten standard colors.  White, Black, Lava Bronze, Grey, Subdued Grey, Warm Grey, Gun Metal, Blue, Solex and Charcoal.  Custom colors are also available.    (Back to Top)

All Glass Entrances

The assembly of All Glass Entrances combines all the JE Berkowitz, LP fabrication operations: cutting, edging, drilling, notching, and glass tempering.  All Glass Entrances are made with clear, bronze, gray, low-iron and acid etched  float glass and incorporate Dorma or Doralco patch fittings or rail hardware.  Additional hardware, including push-pulls, closers, thresholds, panics, magnetic locks and auto-operators can be supplied with these aesthetically appealing entrance systems.  The company's fully computerized quoting system provides customers with prompt and accurate estimates and a professional, experienced Product Manager helps coordinate production with the delivery requirements of the customer.    (Back to Top)

Cutting

JE Berkowitz, LP has three automatic Billco cutting lines, which feed cut sizes of glass into the various fabrication operations.  The automated XYZ cutting lines handle 1/8" - 3/4" glass.  Cutting is done regularly on all standard and specialty glasses.  Stock cutting sizes are 96" x 130" and 130" x 204".  Automated cutting is available in both rectangular and on-line patterns with cutting tolerances held to 1/16".    (Back to Top)

Edgework

Four automatic diamond wheel polishing machines and three high speed seaming lines provide seamed or flat polished edges on heat-treated glass used in conventional four-sided captured glazing.  For butt glazing or when the edges are exposed, a ground and seamed, flat polished, or mitred edge with satin finish should be specified.  Edgework is available on 3/16" through 3/4" glass.    (Back to Top)

Hole Drilling

Three automatic double acting high-speed drill presses are capable of producing holes in a variety of diameters ranging from 1/4" to 4".  Holes are not intended to be exposed and are only for use with hardware or a coverplate.  Speakholes, pass-throughs, cash and mail slots are available but also require the use of a coverplate.    (Back to Top)
